Placing a child from the UK with Agency Approved Adopters

When you are approved as suitable to adopt by Yorkshire Adoption Agency, we work hard to identify a child whom you might be able to parent successfully by:-

NOTE: Your written permission is required for the Agency to forward his/her details to these organisations.

When, we at the Agency and a child's Local Authority feel that you may be able to successfully parent a specific child, we will discuss him/her with you.

If you feel that you could be his/her adoptive parent the child's Social Worker will visit you to give you more information.  Others involved with the child will also provide you with information.

If we all agree that you could meet the child's needs, the Local Authority will place your son/daughter with you for adoption following the usual legal procedures.  Details of this can be found in the Agency's Domestic Adoption Leaflet.

When your child joins your family, the Local Authority will visit you and the child to monitor his/her progress.  Your Social Worker from this Agency will provide support to your family at least until you legally adopt your child.  Yorkshire Adoption Agency will, however, provide support and advice at any time during your child's childhood and beyond.  This is in recognition that adoption is a lifelong commitment with both challenges and rewards.

Full information on adoption within the UK is available in our downloadable Domestic Adoption Leaflet.
