We will provide counselling and information about their origins to adopted adults over the age of 18 who were placed for adoption as babies by the Agency.
Priority for this service will be given to anyone who was adopted before the 12th November 1975. We aim to offer an appointment within 28 days of the initial contact. We will acknowledge your request in writing within 7 working days.
If you were adopted before 12th November 1975 you are required to attend a Counselling Interview before receiving any information. If you were adopted after this date you will not be required to attend for a Counselling Interview unless you choose to do so. Before being offered an appointment, you are required to have accessed origins information via the General Register Office.
Since the Implementation of the Adoption and Children Act 2002, it may be possible for birth relatives of adopted adults to make contact with them if the adopted adult so wishes. Yorkshire Adoption Agency is unable to provide this service, however, will give advice to birth relatives about Agencies who do so.
Details of these services can be obtained by contacting the Agency.
