Yorkshire Adoption Agency is an inclusive agency that welcomes adopters who are already parents and have children in the home. We support prospective adopters who are second time adopters or have birth children.
We have specific training for each cohort and offer a child training session for the child/ren already within the home during the assessment period. If you are a second time adopter, we will work hard to complete your assessment within 4 months, wherever possible.
Older children are great role models
Your children can support a child to settle into your family by being a friend and a role model.
2 year recommended age gap
We recommend an age gap of at least two years between any child in the home and a child who joins the family.
We work with your children too
We work hard in building a relationship with your child/ren and will complete direct work with them to ensure their wishes and feelings are included, supporting them to understand the process.
