The children

Yorkshire Adoption Agency is committed to finding families for children.

We put the child’s voice at the heart of what we do.

Last year, 2,960 children were adopted in England. Unlike Regional Adoption Agencies who propritise matches with children from their own agency, we match our adopters with children throughout the UK and take great care to find the right child for each family.

Over 61% of children waiting for adoption have needs which mean they wait longer for an adoptive family. These include brothers and sisters who need to stay together, children of school age, children from black and global majority backgrounds and children with additional needs.

Could you consider adopting a child from one of these groups? You would be offering a child who may be waiting longer a loving family home and you are more likely to be matched quickly with a child or children.

As of January 2024:

  • 37% of children waiting were brothers and sister groups
  • 30% of children waiting were children of school age (4yrs +)
  • 61% of children waiting were children who had additional needs
  • 28% of children waiting were children from the black and global majority communities.
